We think Made in the USA is important
We started out in 2001 with a business that sold green building materials. There were some AMAZING materials, but so much of it was made overseas.
We moved on to small manufacturing in 2008, and Slate-ish got an upgrade and makeover in 2014.
Since then, we’ve been diverting waste from the landfill, and making a product that can replace mined stone from overseas. We use products made in the US, buy and modify used equipment, and even ship in US made boxes.

I'm an idiot, and even I could do it! It was way easier than I thought it would be!

My order was received earlier than expected. The product was much easier to cut than I anticipated. The installation was a no brainer and the end result exceeded my expectations. The cost was nice too.

Easy and Sustainable
What’s different about Slate-ish?
Lightweight. Strong. Easy.
We’re a bit of an oddball here - kind of like stone, but with some features of wood.
Like Stone: Our material starts as a layered paper/resin composite, and because of these layers, it splits just like natural stone. This gives it a texture super close to actual Slate, which is also formed in layers and split to reveal the tile face.
Like Wood: Cuts with woodworking tools - Slate-ish does not require wet, diamond blade cutting, reducing mess and equipment. Thin pieces have some flexibility, and it’s not brittle, like stone.
As unique as you are: Lightweight but durable, and fits into many design styles. Slate-ish has a clean look for modern times. You can even customize the look by layering for thickness, adding your own surface coatings, and installing in various patterns.
